David Belsey,

David Belsey, Senior Consultant and Director of the Regional Office in Calgary, has been actively involved in the fundraising sector since the late 80’s.  Following his initial ministry as Pastor of numerous churches, David received his doctor’s degree from Fuller Seminary in the area of strategic planning and resource development, an education taken to assist churches in administration and resources achieved.
 
Prior to joining Harder & Associates full time, David had been a Church Administrator where he conducted capital campaigns for expansion and relocation, campaigns for which he provided the church leadership.  In addition he has been a Director of Development and a VP Advancement at two prominent Christian Colleges.

As a Pastor, David gave leadership to several campaigns involving Consulting teams from the USA, and was also involved in a campaign, conducted by the Canadian team of Harder & Associates. He notes that there are fairly obvious differences in approach between Canadian and American firms. Over the past 40 years in various ministry roles, he has been involved in fundraising for Church capital projects from almost every vantage point. He has been on the church board when a consultant was hired in Edmonton. As a pastor he hired a consultant, and as a lay person he has been chair of a church capital campaign. As such he understands most of the issues that Churches and Christian charities face relating to hiring and working with a consultant.

David’s church ministry and his fundraising in the institutional context has given him very significant experience in the overall field of fundraising, both on the church and institutional side. Since coming to Harder & Associates full time in 2005, David has conducted numerous campaigns in Churches, Christian Schools and Camps.
